A full cord of seasoned oak is $777 and a full cord of oak/cedar mix is $655, delivered free within our service area. Half cords are $444 (oak) and $333 (mix); quarter cords are $222 (oak) and $177 (mix). All wood is precut to 16 inches.

A full cord is 128 cubic feet of tightly stacked wood, typically a stack 4 feet high, 4 feet deep and 8 feet long. A half cord is 64 cubic feet and a quarter cord is 32 cubic feet. California law requires firewood to be sold by the cord or a fraction of a cord, and that is how we measure every load.

Yes. Our oak is seasoned hardwood, split and dried so it lights easily, burns hot and produces far less smoke and creosote than green wood. Seasoned firewood generally has a moisture content of 20 percent or lower.

Oak is a dense hardwood that burns long, hot and steady with excellent coals, ideal for wood stoves and overnight heat. The oak/cedar mix adds cedar, which lights fast and smells great but burns quicker. The mix costs less per cord and is popular for fire pits, campfires and ambiance fires.

Yes. Seasoned oak bundles are $16.99 each at Mr. Happy's Mercantile, 57475 Hwy 371, Anza, CA 92539. Bundles can also be delivered in quantities of 10 or more.

Order in early fall if you can. Demand spikes with the first cold snap and mountain deliveries depend on the weather. During peak season allow up to a week for delivery.

By truck, dumped in the spot you choose: driveway, side yard or near your stack. We need enough clearance for a pickup or dump trailer to back in. Stacking is available for an added fee.

Oak is a hardwood with high density, so each piece holds more energy. A cord of seasoned oak produces roughly 24 to 26 million BTU, compared with about 15 million for cedar and 20 million for pine. It burns slowly, holds coals for hours and produces little smoke when properly seasoned.

For a home heated primarily with a wood stove in the Anza or Idyllwild mountains, a full cord of oak typically lasts four to six weeks of steady winter burning. A household lighting evening fireplace fires a few nights a week can stretch a half cord across the season.

Very little. Oak is a low-spark hardwood, which makes it safer than pine, juniper or pinyon for open indoor fireplaces.

Cedar is excellent for starting fires and for outdoor use. It lights easily, burns hot and gives off a pleasant aroma. On its own it burns fast and can pop, which is why we blend it with oak: cedar gets the fire going and oak carries the heat.

Yes, with a screen in place. Cedar can throw an occasional spark, so use a fireplace screen or glass doors. For wood stoves with closed doors it is not a concern.

Loads are a blend of seasoned oak and cedar; the exact ratio varies with what we are splitting. If you need mostly oak, order the seasoned oak load instead.
